Somebody asked how to play embedded quicktime video on web pages.Install qtlite to play these embedded QT vids and to play real videos install real alternative lite.įor me VLC +mpc(or MPC HC)+ cccp + Real alt + Qtlite has played everything i have ever thrown at it. with settings and you will get more or less same quality with most of the players out there. I use a combi of vlc player and MPC HC along with cccp and this setup plays all videos without any issues.KM player is good but the problem is it got too many features.features you won't need most of the time.Unless you watch those anime shows coming otta japan(In that case those additional features in KM player become useful).other than that KM Player offers you no real advantage over other players. Most of the useful features that you need are also available in other players.Īnd those who belive KM player offerws superior video quality are just imagining things.Jusrt play ard.

Sure there are flaws with vlc player. It doesn't play 1080p videos smoothly,no forwarding in flash videos, etc, etc. So what? Just use other players to play these files. The reason most people like vlc player is that it's no-frills player that plays most of the videos out there whithout any need to install any additional codecs or make any complicated changes to the player settings.besides it does a good job with most videos.

Vlc is a standalone media player that doesn't use any outside codecs. It only makes use of those codecs that come with it. (Note : please tell about any other video player you think is better than all the options in poll) While K-lite Mega Codec Pack plays virtually all video formats you can imagine.one con which people say that it really looks primitive.i agree on this.but till the time its playing any video i throw on it, no one must be complaining on the way it looks. You can't see flash videos by reversing or stops that moment only. It doesn't stream video (may be wrong on this). It doesn't play quick time videos (please correct me on this if i am wrong). It doesn't play real media even if you have codecs installed. multi-platform support.windows, mac, linux, unix, bsd. It has two advantages in my point of view: tried vlc few times.but could never understand why people call it the best video player. As it is a livecd (with decent NTFS support: remember to eject/shut down properly or use face using sudo commands in linux) you can watch your videos and then return like nothing ever happened.I have always used K-lite media codec pack.

The other argument is you download a linux livecd, I was messing with linux mint the other day (I will call it ubuntu/debian with all the nice stuff like decent drivers and multimedia decoding) and it worked a charm on a laptop that would normally struggle (90% cpu struggle) without the paid stuff. My personal opinion of klite is not very high (too much overlap and not very well configured), the only downside to cccp I found is the less than optimal encoding parts (which they have repeatedly said is not their goal) but if you managed to work out how to encode video you should know enough to sort it out anyhow (avisynth+megui is my choice).

Some graphics cards companies also decode h264 via hardware but you can run into some problems there (lack of support for higher levels/profiles mainly but modern drivers should be OK). You pay for coreavc but it is quite nice.

The main two "fast software decoders" are coreavc and soon to be the divx (as in the codec) people's Project Rémoulade (now in closed beta). Also check the output colourspaces and your graphics drivers (both nvidia and ATI have messed these up on more than one and others likewise you can reduce or stop postprocessing (ffdshow has it in the codecs section when you select h264).ĬCCP uses FFDshow last I checked which is great but speed can be improved. I will echo the "too slow" comments but there are some things you can make sure you turn off postprocessing as H264 tends to have it built in which means postprocessing on top of postprocessing and then artifacts and the like.
